A resolution of sorts...

I was just looking at my blog posts and realized that I have a bunch of drafts. And they are all photo challenges. I can't believe I've been so negligent in posting them. I think the last few weeks of school really caught up with me and I didn't have time for much of anything, especially with making DVDs for the school program, etc. So, my mid-June resolution is this: I am going to start taking more pictures and posting them. Oh, and I will try to post photo challenges from the past couple months, and hopefully soon I'll be caught up!

11/52 Photo Challenge

For this week's photo challenge, I decided to cheat in a way. I was hoping to get some pictures of blue sky, but it's been cloudy for 2 weeks, so I'm using pictures from last summer in Alaska.

8/52 Photo Challenge

As I stated in a previous post, I didn't complete the photo challenge for week 8. Well, I have finally finished it. Today, I brought my parents to the Minneapolis airport to catch a flight to Alaska. After dropping them off at the curb (literally), I managed to hit rush hour in full force. It was slow driving for a while, and because of this, I managed to snap a couple pictures. Don't worry, Mom, I was driving about 5 miles an hour.

I know this was a Friday night at rush hour, but I just can't imagine doing this day in and day out. Fighting traffic. I think I'd have a ulcer before long.

I don't know how many times I've passed this road and I've always wanted to stop. Tonight I finally pulled over a got a picture. My little claim to fame!

9/52 Photo Challenge

The topic for this week's photo challenge is objects that tell something about you.

I love to play piano, just wish I had more time for it.

I collect teddy bears.

Not sure about the #1, but I am a teacher.

I like to sew and do crafts.

I am a Minnesota girl.

I love to read.

"Mylo" is one of my closest companions.

7/52 Photo Challenge

Here are my photo challenge pictues for the week. The topic is one object shot at 5 different angles or distances. It might be a far stretch, but I photographed my piano... inside and out. I guess that would be "different angles," right?

6/52 Photo Challenge

Why in the world someone chose February for taking pictures of flowers, I'll never know. But, that's the topic for this week's photo. I guess that's what makes it a challenge.

Since flowers aren't really abundant right now, I decided to head to Wal-Mart. Since all the flowers are out in the middle of the main aisle, I decided to pick up a bouquet and find a less-conspicious spot in the store. In the middle of the pajams section, this is the picture I snapped. I had fun playing around with my editing program, so let me know what one you like best.

4/52 Photo Challenge

This week's photo challenge was water. Since it's so cold in Minnesota, most of the "water" is in solid form--ice. I decided to try to get all three forms of water in one picture--solid, liquid, gas. I think it worked pretty well. (My sister Becky gets an assist for pouring the water for me.)

3/52 Photo Challenge

This week's photo challenge certainly didn't take long for me to do, since Grand Rapids is a rather small town. But here are some of the highlights.

As you enter town from the east, you'll see this sign... I wonder how many of our tax dollars were spent on that??

This building is the Old Central School. You guessed it. It was once a school. Now it's full of shops, a restaurant, and a museum. A landmark in the heart of Grand Rapids.

A look at the old part of downtown.

The Post Office where my Dad worked many years.

This is something about Grand Rapids I don't understand. This water tower was repainted last year. While the color is fine, along with everybody I've talked to, I don't understand the slogan. I personally think it doesn't make sense, but if anyone out there has any ideas, please enlighten me!

This is my church and school where I work.

And who can forget Wal-Mart!!! I only wish they had frequent shopper discounts! :)

Well, there you have it. A quick look at the town of Grand Rapids. Try the photo challenge yourself. It's great fun!

2/52 Photo Challenge

This week's photo challenge...what defines you.

There are many ways I could be defined...daughter, granddaughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, teacher...probably others. Then I was reminded of something I heard in church last week. Our pastor touched on the subject of who we are in Christ. Even though it's great to be all those things I mentioned above, how much more exciting to be part of God's family. Here is the list of things I am or have because of what Jesus did for me on the cross.
