Marshmallow Pops

I love the idea of MckMama's snow pops which were featured on her blog here. As Valentine's Day school parties were approaching, I briefly considered making these artistic delicacies, but time got away from me. Okay, to be honest here, I knew that my three, four, and five-year-old students would not appreciate the design, creativity, and simplistic beauty of these snow pops. So, putting my creative juices to work, I was inspired as I walked up and down the aisles of my local grocery store.

Almond bark. Hmmmm..... What could I do with almond bark? A few steps further down the aisle.... Marshmallows. BINGO! I grabbed a couple bags of each (having absolutely no idea how far the almond bark would go), red and pink sprinkles, and toothpicks and I was set to go.

So here's my adaptation of MckMama's snow pops. Please forgive my simplified version, but I still think they're adorable.

Strawberry heart-shaped marshmallows worked perfectly for this treat, since it's, um, Valentine's Day or some such holiday.

I stuck a marshmallow on the end of a round toothpick, being careful not to poke it all the way through. (Trial and error would prove that the marshmallow would slide down the toothpick if it were poked through.)

After melting vanilla flavored almond bark in a double boiler, I dipped the marshmallows into the hot, gooey yummy-ness. Then I, you know, tried one to make sure it was edible and was pleased to find out it was.

While the almond bark was still warm, I added red and pink sprinkles to the hearts. Ohhhh, they're so cute! (You know, if food really can be adorable.)

I found a 4-inch styrofoam ball and cut it in half, which I then covered with a pink napkin. Well, that wasn't the first thing I tried, and I'm not even going to tell you what I did try. Just believe me, it didn't work! After adding the sprinkles, I stuck the marshmallow-clad toothpicks into the ball to let them dry.

Marshmallow bouquet complete... put in refrigerator to harden.

Aren't they cute?

The only decision now? Which one to eat first!

Maybe someday I'll attempt the real thing, but for today, I'll just pop a marshmallow in my mouth and call it good.

Not Me! Monday

It's time once again for Not Me! Monday. Well, let's see how fast I can crank this one out!

On Tuesday, my sister Becky came with her 4 kids. We went to town and I did not decide to get my hair chopped, even though I'd just gotten 4 inches taken off a month ago. Nope, I'm totally brave enough to get 8-9 inches cut off at one time, and I would never waste money to cut my hair twice in a month.

While doing the garage sale thing this week, I absolutely did not buy more children's books. Especially since I have 2 completely jammed shelves in my preschool room and countless more in totes at home, there is for sure, without a doubt, definitely not a chance in this world that I would buy more!

Since it was so hot this week, although not Kansas City hot, my sister and I took the kids to the beach one afternoon. Knowing the icky feeling my hair has after swimming, I surely went straight home and took a shower and washed my hair. Right? Yeah, that's definitely what I did. What I didn't do is wait until 2 days later to wash it. Because that would be gross. And I wouldn't want to be gross, would I?

On Thursday, I did not make a spontaneous decision to buy a new fish at the pet store. Flippy, the fish in my preschool room, has been lonely since his buddy Rainbow died before the end of the school year. So, I was not feeling sorry for him and finally gave in to get him a companion. Now here's hoping he doesn't get ick.... but that's another story.

This week I did not have a crazy idea and email MckMama about it. Knowing how busy she is, I was not completely shocked when she emailed me back 2 days later! What was it??? Oh, you'll just have to wait for the timing to be right for her. She's kinda busy right now!

Since today is the first day I can sew uninterrupted since a month ago, I am not sitting at the computer catching up on blogs, seeing what's happening with all my online friends, reading/writing emails and blog posts... Nope, I'm being totally frugal with my time and making every minute count!

Well, if you're wasting time goal-oriented like I am, check out MckMama's blog. There are a bunch of people there who are not time-conscientious. Happy Monday everyone! How long do you think it took me to write this post?
